NHTSA Complaint #11703451 — 2024 GENESIS GV80

1. ·On [XXX] I was driving on the freeway at highway speeds when the car shut itself down and went into neutral and accessory mode. No warning lights came on. Nothing happened if I hit the gas or the brake or tried to change the gear. With the car being shut down, I could have been hit by other cars traveling at high rates of speed or caused an accident due to my car shutting itself off. Yes, the problem has been confirmed by a dealer. They said it needed an entirely new transmission. No, the car has not be inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance agents, or others. 2. ·On [XXX], I was again driving on the freeway at freeway speeds when the car shut itself off and went into neutral and accessory mode. Nothing happened if I hit the gas or the brake or tried to change the gear. No warning lights came on. Nothing happened if I hit the gas or the brake or tried to change the gear. With the car being shut down, I could have been hit by other cars traveling at high rates of speed or caused an accident due to my car shutting itself off. Yes, the problem has been confirmed by a dealer. They said it needed an entirely new transmission. When I spoke to the service department, I was told "it was not the first transmission they've replaced." No, the car has not be inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance agents, or others. 3.·On [XXX] I was exiting the freeway and accelerating to merge in the far left lane when the loaner car given to me by the dealer, another Genesis GV80, shut itself off and went into neutral and accessory mode. Again, nothing happened when I pressed the gas or the brake or tried to change the gear. No warning lights came on.
