NHTSA Complaint #11685885 — 2013 FORD F-150

The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while his son was driving at various speeds, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted to first gear. The power train warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the speedometer had decreased to zero(0) MPH while the vehicle was in motion. The contact stated that the failure had progressively worsened, causing the vehicle to fail to shift out of first gear while driving. The contact stated that upon turning off and restarting the vehicle, and upon disconnecting the battery temporarily on several occasions, the power train warning light was turned off, and the vehicle operated as needed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact related the failure to Ford Campaign Number: 19N01. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 174,000.
