The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted without warning. The contact stated that while driving 70 MPH, the transmission suddenly downshifted, and the contact lost control of the vehicle, and the vehicle skidded. The contact regained control of the vehicle with the message to "Check Service Manual" flashing on the instrument panel. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to accelerate above third gear while depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact stated that after a while, the vehicle failed to accelerate above fifth gear and failed to decelerate and downshift below third gear, even while at a complete stop. The local dealer was contacted and informed the contact that the VIN was not under recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000.
