NHTSA Complaint #11683765 — 2013 FORD F-150

The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at 40 MPH, the odometer failed to function as intended. The speedometer went from 40 to zero and failed to provide the correct speed. In addition, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted. The “WRENCH” warning light was illuminated. The contact pulled over to the side of the road, turned off the vehicle, and pulled the key out of the ignition, opened and closed the door, and restarted the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle was reset. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the output speed sensor circuit had no signal and the PCM and valve body lead frame failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V075000 (Power Train). The manufacturer was notified of the failure but denied assistance in covering the cost of the repair. The failure mileage was approximately 101,500.
