Consumer Description
The Multipurpose Camera Unit failed in my 2020 Honda Odyssey. This camera is responsible for enabling multiple advanced driver-assistance systems, including the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM), Adaptive Cruise Control, and Auto High Beams. The component has not been replaced yet and is available for inspection upon request. The failure of the camera disabled multiple critical safety systems while the vehicle was in operation. These systems are designed to prevent lane departures, collisions, and unintentional road exits, especially at higher speeds. With the systems offline, I was at increased risk of collision or lane departure, particularly on highways or in low visibility conditions. This malfunction removed key layers of protection that the vehicle is designed to provide. The issue was confirmed by a Honda dealership on August 8th 2025, which diagnosed the problem as a failed multipurpose camera unit. They acknowledged that this malfunction disables all related safety systems. The vehicle was inspected by a certified Honda dealership technician, but not by police, insurance, or the manufacturer directly at this time. Multiple dashboard warning messages appeared simultaneously one day when starting the vehicle, including: "Collision Mitigation System Problem" "Road Departure Mitigation System Problem" "Lane Keeping Assist Problem" "Adaptive Cruise Control Problem" "Auto High-Beam Problem" These messages first appeared on or around the end of June 2025, and the systems were disabled immediately upon the failure.
