NHTSA Complaint #11680244 — 2013 FORD F-150

My truck speedometer stopped working while driving 65mph. At the same time, shifting became erratic and unpredictable, causing a very unsafe condition almost causing my truck to lose control. The Check Engine light immediately came on. After diagnostics, the engine code was "P0720 Permanent, Output Shaft Speed Sensor Circuit." This is a known problem with Ford and Ford recall # 19N01, "Transmission molded leadframe extended coverage." When taken to the dealership, they admitted this was the exact problem that needed to be fixed, but the Recall expired in 2023 so it would now cost me over $1800 to fix the leadframe. I am reporting this because these exact issues are happening to a lot of people even after the Recall has expired. This is a defective part that should be covered by Ford. This recall should be extended. I never got any notices or letters from Ford regarding this problem, probably because I am not the original owner of the truck. I have not uploaded an invoice because the repair has not been completed yet, but I am happy to do this at a later time once the repair is completed.
