NHTSA Complaint #11673887 — 2017 FORD EXPLORER

The contact owns a 2017 Ford Explorer. The contact received notifications of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 24V031000 (Structure) and 25V347000 (Structure); however, the parts to do the recall repairs were not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 MPH, the driver's side B-pillar trim detached from the vehicle, causing the lift gate to fail to open. The door ajar light illuminated, and the interior lights remained on for approximately 20 - 30 minutes at a time before turning off. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who confirmed that parts would not be available for the B-pillar trim by October; however, the dealer was uncertain. The dealer was unable to provide a fix for the A-pillar. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issues. The failure mileage was approximately 111,000.
