Consumer Description

1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The vehicle experienced a sudden loss of power while driving, which has been attributed to a blown fuse and an underlying engine failure. The dealership has confirmed that the engine needs to be repaired. The vehicle is currently at the dealership and is available for inspection upon request. 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? My [XXX] son was driving the vehicle alone at night over a busy bridge when the car suddenly lost power without warning. He had to coast down the bridge in heavy traffic with limited control, putting himself and surrounding drivers at serious risk. Fortunately, he was able to pull over safely, but the situation could have easily led to a serious accident or injury. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, the vehicle was towed to the dealership, where the issue has been diagnosed. They confirmed that the engine is damaged and requires repair. They also identified that the initial trigger may have been a blown fuse, which led to the complete engine failure. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? The vehicle is currently in the care of the dealership’s service department. It has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. No accident occurred, so no police report was filed. 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? There were no prior warning lights or symptoms leading up to the failure. The oil had recently been changed, and no issues were reported during the service. The only warning that appeared was the transmission warning light, which came on simultaneously with the vehicle’s sudden power loss.
