Consumer Description
Engine: Power lost and engine shut down. Yes, it is available for inspection. Warning Lamps: Engine lamp came on: [XXX] [XXX] Engine shut down while driving. While bring my Grandson, home from school. I was on the ramp to exit the interstate, at the stop sign I lightly touched my brakes because I was going very slow, nothing was coming when I accelerated the engine totally shut down in between both lanes on a state highway. All of the warning lamps on the dashboard were lighting up and blinking, all of the alerts were making noises, no power and I had no control of the vehicle, then the “press start signal” came on, I had to quickly place from drive to park, and then press the start button to crank the vehicle. While this was going on my Grandson asked me in a startled voice “what’s happening”. Scary is not the word “I saw my life and his life flash before my eyes” with my Grandson in the vehicle. That’s a [XXX] of a feeling that you never want to experience. Then he said “this is nothing but a tin can ”. All of my family calls this vehicle a “Tin Can”! This was a very dangerous situation that could have been life-threatening or death. The problem has not been reproduced. Dealership sent a GM Field Service Engineer to inspect vehicle on 3/18/25. I have had many problems with this vehicle that cannot be diagnosed. Engineer test drove twice and scanned for codes before and after test drives. His findings: no codes found, was unable to reproduce power loss, and loose negative terminal on battery post tightened. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
