The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated while the vehicle was stationary, the vehicle experienced an excessive oil consumption. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle required an additional quart of engine oil monthly. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with excessive oil consumption. The dealer determined that the engine needed to be replaced and the repair would be out-of-pocket. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 93,000.
