NHTSA Complaint #11646972 — 2019 NISSAN ALTIMA

The contact owns a 2019 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. After several attempts, the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to the dealer; however, no cause for the failure was found. The contact stated that an unknown part was replaced. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The vehicle was towed to several dealers, who refused to accept the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a dealer, Southern Nissan Chesapeake, where it was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the grill shutter valve had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact left the vehicle at the dealer where the vehicle was towed without the contact's consent. The contact could not find the vehicle. The contact found out that the vehicle had been towed to another dealer. The contact stated that when the vehicle was found, the vehicle had been vandalized, and parts were stolen from the vehicle. A Police report was filed. An investigation by the Insurance Company was pending. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle remained at the dealer and had not been driven since. The failure mileage was approximately 43,000.
