NHTSA Complaint #11639878 — 2023 VOLKSWAGEN ID.4

The contact owns a 2023 Volkswagen ID.4. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V651000 (Structure); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that while driving approximately 10 - 20 MPH, the passenger’s side rear door unlocked and became slightly opened. The door closed from the momentum while driving; however, the contact pulled over to the side of the road and inspected the door and found no visible defects. The door was automatically locked and secured. Additionally, the infotainment screen was black while reversing and activating the back-over prevention camera. The contact also stated that the back-over prevention camera erroneously activated and remained displayed for an additional 10 - 15 minutes after the vehicle had been shifted into drive(D). The contact stated that the mileage had decreased significantly from 220 to 150 miles and the vehicle failed to display the level of charge for the battery. The dealer was contacted and was unable to provide an estimate for when parts for the recall repair would be available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 12,800.
