NHTSA Complaint #11635699 — 2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE

The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V438000 (Electrical System) by the previous owner; however, the recall repair failed to prevent the failure from occurring. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle momentarily lost automotive power and occasionally shut off while idling. The local dealer informed the contact that the parts needed to repair the vehicle were not available. Additionally, the contact attempted to temporarily repair the vehicle with an after-market part; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was not repaired due to parts not being available. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where the crankshaft sensor was replaced; however, the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 180,000.
