Consumer Description

The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while her husband was driving 70 MPH, the vehicle unexpectedly downshifted to first gear. The driving release and then depressed the accelerator pedal and the vehicle returned to normal functionality. The “Service Engine” warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V075000 (Power Train), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 117,000.
