Consumer Description
Honda Pilot 2017 with 67.000 miles started having a tapping noise that grew increasingly worse within days until check engine light came on flashing and vehicle was no longer drivable. Fortunately main issue happened at Walmart parking lot in safe situation. Honda Service Center then recommended tow to their location. The diagnostics report claims the engine failure is due to multiple cylinders failing and tapping noise could be a rod bearing issue that led the engine failure. The engine is a 3.5l V6 installed in Honda between 2016-2020 vehicles currently under investigation by NHTSA [XXX] ). The total cost of repair is north of 10k. Estimate attached.
