NHTSA Complaint #11622891 — 2016 FORD FUSION

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact noticed white smoke coming from the engine compartment. The contact stated that the following day while driving at an undisclosed speed, the engine was shaking erratically like the engine was going to fall out of the vehicle. In addition, the check engine warning light illuminated. The code indicated an engine misfire. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with engine failure. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact referenced an unknown recall repair to the dealer; however, the contact was informed that the VIN was not associated with the recall. In addition, the contact stated that for the past six months, the vehicle had been diagnosed with a coolant leak, an engine misfire, and a water pump failure. The contact stated that the previous repairs and parts replacements failed to fix the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.
