Consumer Description
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 40 MPH and attempting to accelerate, the vehicle failed to accelerate after the rear wheels seized. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who diagnosed and determined that the rear end needed to be replaced. The contact was unsure of the exact part that had been repaired. The vehicle was covered under warranty. The contact stated that approximately 5 years after the repair was completed, while idling and attempting to release the brake pedal however, the vehicle failed to accelerate. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact manually pushed the vehicle to the side of the road and then had the vehicle towed to the residence. The vehicle had not been taken to the dealer to be diagnosed or repaired a second time. The dealer was contacted and informed of the failure. The dealer referred the contact to the manufacturer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened a case for the failure. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 52,000.
