NHTSA Complaint #11618919 — 2023 VOLKSWAGEN ID.4

The contact owns a 2023 Volkswagen ID.4. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed in inclement weather, the alarm system detected that the doors were opened, causing the vehicle to come to a complete stop; however, the doors were properly closed. Additionally, the instrument panel display screen intermittently went blank for 15-20 seconds while driving. The contact was able to restart the vehicle after opening and closing the doors. The dealer was notified of the failures, and the contact was informed that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 24V651000 (Structure) and 24V344000 (Back Over Prevention, Equipment, Electrical System); however, the parts to do the recall repair were not yet available. The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact stated that he had not received notification of the recalls. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and two cases were opened. The failure mileage was approximately 5,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
