Consumer Description
We have had our 2023 Chrysler Pacifica Plug-In Hybrid since [XXX]. This was a factory ordered vehicle. There have been no indications that there is any issue with the vehicle. About a week ago while driving the vehicle a warning came on the speedometer screen that said "Pull over safely the vehicle is about to turn off". The check engine light also came on. Once the vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road and stopped the vehicle turned itself off. After waiting a few minutes the vehicle was able to be restarted and driven about 5 minutes home. The check engine light remained on. We did not drive the vehicle again until we were taking it to the dealership to be inspected. The check engine light was on the entire drive from our home to the dealership, which is about 10-15 minutes. The vehicle has now been at our local Chrysler dealership for 6 days. The technician at the dealership is telling us the code stored in the vehicle memory means it needs a new transmission. We are being told they need to replicate the issue for the warranty to cover a new transmission being put in. If they cannot replicate the issue, we are to take the vehicle back and continue to drive it until it happens again and then immediately have it towed to the dealership so they can receive warranty approval to replace the transmission. My research has revealed this is a known issue in Pacifica Hybrids regarding stalling due to a transmission sensor. I called Chrysler to clarify the warranty process and if there is a recall on my vehicle. The warranty process is correct and there is currently not a recall for this issue on our Pacifica Hybrid.
