Consumer Description

The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-250. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 MPH, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted from six gear to first gear, causing the vehicle to abruptly decelerate, causing the driver to almost lose control of the steering wheel. The vehicle was later examined by an independent mechanic who diagnosed and determined that the power train control module needed to be reprogrammed. The power train control module was reprogrammed, and the vehicle operated normally. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The local dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 102,900.
