NHTSA Complaint #11603765 — 2013 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE

Ok [XXX] 1:30 pm we got into car to go to lunch started driving and smoke started coming from the headliner and smelled like burning plastic on driver side near visor, smoke filled the car we were able to roll down windows and able to stop the car. The area continued to emit smoke and area on headliner felt hot. After Turing the car off the smoke/ fire continued and Had to locate the battery under passenger seat to disconnect power. Extremely stressful and scary situation as we have grandchildren and an elderly mother that we care for. I called Chrysler on 7/16/2024 spoke with Kayla she gave me a case number and informed me I would receive a phone call. I never got a call, so I called today 7/22/24 spoke with Ash she informed me this is not under warranty and my call was sent to a survey .
