Consumer Description

The contact owns a 2014 Grand Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the "Service Shifter" and "Service Transmission" messages were displayed, and the transmission erroneously shifted to neutral, causing the vehicle to suddenly decelerate. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the shifter, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The local dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 105,000. The VIN was not available.
