NHTSA Complaint #11586816 — 2019 HONDA CR-V

The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that after stopping at a traffic signal, while depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle accelerated to approximately 15 MPH, and then the vehicle independently stopped. The contact had not depressed the brake pedal however, the “Brake” warning light illuminated during the failure. The contact stated that there was no vehicle or object directly in front of the vehicle. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle and was able to continue driving. The contact stated that later while making a right turn onto a side street, the vehicle again stopped independently. The contact stated that she depressed the accelerator pedal, and the vehicle was able to move forward and gain forward momentum. The contact stated that the brake warning light was illuminated. The contact drove the vehicle to a dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed; however, the dealer reset the sensor to the high setting. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.
