NHTSA Complaint #11577109 — 2019 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE

I was driving my Jeep on Sunday, [XXX] and the service airbag system light kept coming on periodically. When I took it to Szott dealership Service center in White Lake, Michigan. On my drive to the dealership the light never popped on. The service guy said it looked like it was the wiring under the driver's seat. I had to wait for a diagnostic tech to check it out. The tech confirmed it was a wiring issue under the driver's seat. The dealership said it is NOT covered under my extended warranty and it will cost $679 to repair. I realize I need to repair for safety issues. My question is an airbag is important safety feature and Jeep should be responsible and stand behind their product to ensure safety for their customers so, why should I have to pay out of pocket to repair a safety feature that should be functioning properly? I store my jeep in a garage. I have not been in an accident or in a flood...so why am I liable when it is a defective part or wiring?
