NHTSA Complaint #11566558 — 2011 BMW 328I

The contact owns a 2011 BMW 328I. The contact stated that while the vehicle was being serviced at the dealer, he was informed that the VANOS assembly bolts had become loosened, causing the VANOS adjustment unit to separate. The dealer determined that the VANOS bolts and the VANOS adjustment unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V707000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 135,000.
