NHTSA Complaint #11564348 — 2019 FORD ECOSPORT

The contact owns a 2019 Ford EcoSport. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled. The check engine and oil pressure warning lights remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local service center which diagnosed that the oil pressure sending unit and engine camshaft were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The local dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The contact was informed that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V905000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) but the part was not yet available. The failure mileage was 78,000. The contact stated the Capital Ford in Raleigh, NC said that the parts would be available sometime around the 2nd quarter of the year, which is April, May or June, August at the latest. The contact was however informed that the car could be repaired prior to the 2nd quarter for $8,000 out of pocket. Further stating that they would not be able to provide the contact with a loaner car, and that the contact would have to pay out of pocket for a rental car.
