Consumer Description
The contact owns a 2007 Mercury Mariner. The contact stated while driving 50 MPH, the engine started to overheat, after which the vehicle lost motive power. The contact was able to pull to the shoulder of the roadway to let the engine cool down. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle returned to normal functionality; however, the failure had since become a regular occurrence. The engine overheated warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V526000 (Hybrid Propulsion System) but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 247,000.
