NHTSA Complaint #11522152 — 2016 FORD FUSION

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that upon opening the front driver’s side door, the latch failed to latch securely. The door ajar warning light illuminated with an alert sound indicating that the door was still open. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the latch assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the contact stated that the failure recurred with that rear driver’s side door latch. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the latch assembly failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that the front passenger’s side door latch failed to latch securely. As a result, the contact had to use a rope to secure the doors while driving. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 113,800.
