NHTSA Complaint #11518228 — 2015 HONDA ACCORD

The contact owns a 2015 Honda Accord. The contact stated while his fiancé was driving 65 MPH, the steering wheel jerked to the right independently. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The driver parked on the side of the road and after inspecting the vehicle, continued driving to the destination. The contact also stated the vehicle would steer independently to the right, and the steering wheel would become difficult to turn. The contact stated that the steering wheel had to be manually turned to return to center. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the electric power steering assist system to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 78,000.
