NHTSA Complaint #11507818 — 2019 RAM 3500

The contact owns a 2019 Ram 3500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V880000 (Fuel System, Diesel) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 65 MPH, he depressed the accelerator pedal to change lanes, and the vehicle shuddered and almost stalled. The contact stated that the "check fuel filter" light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure lasted for a few seconds then the vehicle resumed normal operation. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent but had started to occur at various speeds. The contact stated that "possible water in fuel" warning light had started to become illuminated. The contact drove the vehicle to a dealer where it was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact was advised by the dealer that the recall repair parts would take years. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
