While attempting to accelerate, the transmission was slipping. The vehicle failed to accelerate as needed. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The failure occurred intermittently. The contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission had failed. The contact was referred to the dealer for warranty assistance. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who was unable to identify the cause of the failure. The failure persisted and recurred more frequently. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and filed a case. The manufacturer confirmed that the vehicle was included in an Extended Warranty Program. The approximate failure mileage was 81,000.
