NHTSA Complaint #11490745 — 2010 LEXUS HS 250 HYBRID

The contact owns a 2010 Lexus HS 250 HYBRID. The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 MPH and attempting to apply the brake, the brake pedal went to the floor and failed to stop the vehicle. The vehicle began to swerve and displayed a tugging with the steering wheel. The contact was able to turn into a grassy area to the right where the vehicle eventually stopped. The brake master warning light, brake warning light, electronic brake control, ABS, and traction control warning lights are illuminated. The vehicle had begun making a humming then grinding noise. The failure reoccurred intermittently while driving at various speeds and more consistently. The contact learned that the failure was an indication that the actuator had failed. The contact had not taken the vehicle to the dealer. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened a case. The approximate failure mileage was 110,000.
