NHTSA Complaint #11484171 — 2014 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA

The contact owns a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated that after her son had parked the vehicle for approximately an hour, the vehicle failed to restart. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a certified mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that there was no power going to the engine. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer who stated that the timing belt had failed and damaged the engine. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that there were no recalls associated with the VIN. The approximate failure mileage was 84,000.
