NHTSA Complaint #11480474 — 2017 HONDA PILOT

Our 2017 Honda Pilot has been having issues restarting after the automatic start-stop system idles the engine after a complete stop. The automatic start-stop feature shuts down the engine when coming to a complete stop, and then the engine doesn’t turn back on after shutting off. This happened the first time about a year ago, of all places on the I-95 interstate highway during a backup. It then happened only sporadically but has since been happing more often. Last week, it happened multiple times on the same day (8/17/22) and became dangerous and stressful to the entire family. It is always annoying, but it is very much a safety hazard in most situations.
