The contact owns a 2009 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that while her granddaughter was driving 15 MPH and slowing down for a traffic light, the brake pedal was depressed however, the vehicle failed to slow as needed. The contact stated that the vehicle stopped in the middle of the intersection. The contact stated that her granddaughter was not aware if a warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The mechanic determined that the front calipers, brake pads, brake lines, and rotors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the brake failure persisted. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V916000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 159,000.
