Consumer Description

The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lurched forward with the oil warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of oil, causing engine damage. The dealer informed the contact that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 42,000.
