Consumer Description
The contact owns a 2022 Tesla Model Y. The contact stated that while driving 72 MPH with the self-driving feature activated, the vehicle experienced phantom braking causing the speed of the vehicle to abruptly decrease. The contact indicated that the failure had occurred on eight separate occasions while driving on the highway the same day with no other vehicles nearby to cause the system to activate. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 1,000.
