The contact owns a 2015 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that the driver’s and passenger’s side middle row captain chair inflatable seat belt receivers had malfunctioned and were inoperable. The contact indicated that the passenger’s side seat belt receiver housing and the internal clip had initially fractured and later the driver's internal clip had fractured making the seat belts unusable. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the seat belts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The local dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 106,000.
