The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving approximately 20 MPH, the tailgate unlatched independently. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that he had experienced the failure for a second time, while towing his camper. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic and was referred to the local dealer. The contact took the vehicle to local dealer and was referred to an auto body shop for assistance. The contact took the vehicle to the auto body shop and was informed that the tailgate needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.
