NHTSA Complaint #11457279 — 2017 SUBARU FORESTER

The contact owns a 2017 Subaru Forester. The contact stated while his wife was driving approximately 50 MPH, she heard an abnormal noise. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The driver was able to park and noticed a crack on the passenger side windshield going horizontal to the roofline. The contact did not notify the dealer or manufacturer. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that on another occasion while the vehicle was at a stationary in the driveway, he noticed a second crack on the driver’s side windshield going horizontal to the roofline. The contact took the vehicle to local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the front windshield to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
