Consumer Description
The contact owns a 2014 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, there was an abnormal knocking sound coming from the engine. The accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact was able to continue to drive to her residence. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer who diagnosed the failure as a rod bearing failure with the engine. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
