Consumer Description

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 RAM 1500. WHILE TRAVELING 55 MPH, THE BATTERY WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. WHEN THE CONTACT REACHED HIS DESTINATION, HE CHECKED UNDERNEATH THE HOOD AND COULD SMELL WIRES BURNING. THE NEXT DAY, HE DISCOVERED BURN MARKS ON THE ALTERNATOR, WHICH HAD ALSO MELTED. ABERNETHY CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (1442 E MAIN ST, LINCOLNTON, NC 28092, (704) 732-1890) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 148,000.
