Consumer Description

TL* THE CONTACT'S WIFE OWNS A 2014 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH ON A RESIDENTIAL ROAD, THE POWER ASSIST WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED. THE CONTACT MANAGED TO STEER THE VEHICLE AND THEN DROVE HOME. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO CALL NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000.
