Consumer Description

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 KIA SORENTO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE ASSEMBLY FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TO BE SERVICED BY VANDEVERE KIA (328 W MARKET ST, AKRON, OH 44303, 330-253-6137) FOR A PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT CAMPAIGN TO UPDATE THE ECU WITH A KNOCK SENSOR DETECTION ALERT. THE ALERT WOULD NOTIFY THE VEHICLE OWNER WHEN THERE MAY BE A LIMP MODE CONDITION THAT COULD PREVENT THE VEHICLE FROM EXCEEDING 25 MPH. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE INTERIM FEATURE MAY ONLY ALERT THE DRIVER AND WAS NOT A PERMANENT REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN THE PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT CAMPAIGN, BUT WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V586000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
