Consumer Description
MY SAFETY BRAKING SYSTEM SUDDENLY ENGAGED FOR NO APPARENT REASON. I WAS DRIVING 40 MPH ON A STRAIGHT, LEVEL SUBURBAN STREET THAT WAS NEWLY PAVED WITHIN THE LAST YEAR. THERE WERE NO OTHER VEHICLES AROUND AND THERE WERE NO OBSTRUCTIONS IN THE ROADWAY. THE ALARM SOUNDED AND THE BRAKES ENGAGED. IT FELT AND SOUNDED AS THOUGH I WAS DRIVING ON SPEED REDUCING PAVEMENT. THE CAR DID NOT COME TO A COMPLETE STOP BUT IT BROUGHT MY SPEED DOWN TO ABOUT 15MPH. IT THEN DISENGAGED AND NORMAL DRIVING RESUMED. IT WAS FRIGHTENING BUT LUCKILY NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME BECAUSE IT CERTAINLY COULD HAVE CAUSED ME TO BE REAR ENDED.
