Consumer Description

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD TAURUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE SPONTANEOUSLY ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKES AND PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER IN A PARKING LOT. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE SAME FAILURE OCCURRED TWO OTHER TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (GLOCKNER FORD IN SOUTH POINT, OHIO, 740-894-3673) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE CABLE FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED TWICE, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE SAME DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE PART THAT FAILED WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
