Consumer Description
VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND I WAS REPLACING AN OLD BATTERY. WHEN I STARTED THE VEHICLE THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY WAS SLAMMED SHUT DUE TO A FAULTY MOTOR THAT WHEN IT GETS LOW VOLTAGE ( CHANGING THE BATTERY) IT MALFUNCTIONS AND CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO GO IN LIMP MODE. FORD HAS A LONG HISTORY OF HAVING ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY ISSUES AND THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED TO THE NHTSA BEFORE BY MANY CONSUMERS. HAD THE VEHICLE HAD LOW VOLTAGE WHEN DRIVING THIS SAME ISSUE HAS BEEN REPORTED BY OTHER CONSUMERS FROM 2004 TO PRESENT. FORD SERVICE TECH ADVISED ME HE SEES THIS PROBLEM ALL THE TIME AND THEY JUST REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY WITH ANOTHER ONE AND SAY THE THROTTLE IS GUMMED SHUT. ALSO HAS A SERVICE ADVISORY ON THIS ISSUE.
