Consumer Description

I HAVE BEEN HAVING TROUBLE GETTING THE DIESEL ENGINE TO START FROM COLD. THE ENGINE WOULD CRANK FOR BETWEEN 6 AND 10 SECONDS BEFORE FINALLY FIRING. IN ADDITION, I HAVE EXPERIENCED ONE TURBO CHARGER OVER BOOST CONDITION WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO GO INTO LIMP HOME MODE ON THE HIGHWAY. I WAS CLIMBING A MOUNTAIN WITH THE BOAT AND SUDDENLY FOUND MY ENGINE RPM LIMITED TO 1500 AND A MAX SPEED OF APPROX. 29MPH. THE DIESEL TECH TOLD ME THAT MY TURBOCHARGER WASN'T EVEN PROVIDING BOOST DUE TO THE VARIABLE GEOMETRY VANES BEING COKED FROM BURNING ENGINE OIL THAT I COULDN'T SEE OR SMELL. THE COMPUTER WASN'T HAPPY WITH THIS AND AS A RESULT ALL BUT SHUT THE ENGINE DOWN. AS FOR THE STARTING ISSUE, I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE GARAGE ON 10-4-2013 AND NEARLY FELL OVER WHEN THE PHONE CALL CAME BACK. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME I NEEDED $3200.00 IN REPAIRS TO FIX THE FUEL INJECTOR "O" RINGS WHICH ARE LEAKING OIL, THE DOWN PIPES INSIDE THE ENGINE, ASSOCIATED FITTINGS FOR THE HIGH PRESSURE OIL SYSTEM/PUMP, THE TURBO CHARGER VARIABLE GEOMETRY VANES, AND OTHER COMPONENTS INCLUDING THE FUEL INJECTION CONTROL MODULE AND EGR. I AM PAYING TO REBUILD HALF THE ENGINE THAT FORD DIDN'T BUILD RIGHT THE FIRST TIME. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THEY HAVE SEEN MANY OF THESE SAME PROBLEMS RESULTING IN ALMOST COMPLETE ENGINE REBUILDS UNDER 100,000 MILES. A GOOGLE SEARCH TURNS UP THOUSANDS OF RESULTS FOR THESE SAME PROBLEMS AND THOUSANDS MORE COMPLAINTS THAT FORD KNOWS AND HAS DONE NOTHING TO COMPENSATE CONSUMERS. I'M NOT THE LAWSUIT KIND, BUT I DO EXPECT A PRODUCT I PURCHASE TO LAST WHEN SERVICED IN ACCORDANCE WITH MANUFACTURERS GUIDELINES. ALL RELEVANT SERVICES HAVE BEEN PERFORMED TO DATE BY FORD DEALERS AND I STILL HAVE A DEFECTIVE ENGINE. IT IS MY HOPE THAT ENOUGH OF US CAN GET FORMAL COMPLAINTS ISSUED TO HELP PAY FOR THESE EXPENSES. *TR
