Consumer Description
APPALLED TO DISCOVER THAT EVEN THE REPUTABLE BMW NO LONGER STANDS BEHIND ITS PRODUCTS! ABOUT 3 YEARS AFTER THE INITIAL PURCHASE (BRAND NEW) FROM AN AUTHORIZED BMW DEALER, RODE MY BMW FOR THE 1ST TIME, ON A RAINY DAY. THE NEXT DAY, BEFORE LEAVING MY GARAGE(I ALWAYS PARKED THIS BIKE IN A COVERED GARAGE) I NOTICED THAT THE RIGHT TURN SIGNAL WAS NOT FUNCTIONING. THE 4 WAY SIGNAL/HAZARD WAS OK THOUGH. ONE WEEK LATER, WHILE RIDING IT FOR THE 2ND TIME IN RAIN, I'VE NOTICED THAT THERE WAS NO RESPONSE FROM THE HORN, LEFT & RIGHT TURN SIGNALS, ELECTRICAL WINDSHIELD, CRUISE CTRL. (SURPRISINGLY THE 4WAY WAS FUNCTIONAL STILL). SINCE THE WARRANTY EXPIRED A FEW MONTHS AGO, THE BMW DEALER CHARGED ME OVER $700.00 TO REPLACE THE LEFT HAND MULTI SWITCH PART # 61318546213. I'VE CALLED BMW ON 7 OCCASIONS TO TRY TO PURSUE THEM TO AT LEAST REIMBURSE ME THE $470 FOR THE PART. ON MY LAST ATTEMPT SPOKEN TO BMW COMPLAIN DEPT. SUPERVISOR [XXX], ON 12:49 PM, 02/13/14. EXPLAINED TO THEM THAT THIS ISSUE IS VERY SIMILAR TO ANOTHER KNOWN NHTSA ISSUE(SEE CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V384000). ALSO STRESSED THE FACT THAT THE BIKE WAS NEVER DROPPED AND THAT I'VE BEEN TAKEN EXTRAORDINARY CARE FOR IT. THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR SOMETHING LIKE THIS TO OCCUR!
