Consumer Description

POWER TO THE ENGINE COMPLETELY CUT OUT WHILE DRIVING. ALL WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AND A LARGE WARNING MESSAGE APPEARED: CHECK CHARGING SYSTEM. I COASTED TO THE HIGHWAY SHOULDER. THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WAS PROVIDING POWER TO THE ACCESSORIES ONLY (RADIO, AIR) BUT IT WAS STUCK IN THIS MODE. WOULD NOT TURN OFF UNTIL I DEPRESSED THE START/STOP BUTTON FOR APPROX 5 SECONDS. EVENTUALLY THE CAR POWERED ON AGAIN. THIS HAPPENED TWICE IN THE LAST 48 HOURS. THE CAR IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER. READING THROUGH NHTSA REPORTS, IT APPEARS THIS HAS HAPPENED TO OTHER SONATA HYBRID CUSTOMERS. IT SEEMS THERE IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM THAT CAUSES THE ENGINE TO TURN OFF WHILE DRIVING. *TR
